"Achieving external validation of our membrane technology while proving our manufacturing capabilities represents a major milestone for Cellfion as we aim to be a trustworthy industrial supplier," said CEO, Liam Hardey
Cellfion's industrial readiness was accelerated by strategic funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program, which awarded Cellfion a grant of 2.5 million euros at the beginning of 2024. The two-year program focuses on membrane optimisation, product validation, business development, and validating the scale up process necessary for growth.
Initial tests with suppliers of roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment have shown positive outcomes. The achievement marks a key milestone in Cellfion’s transition from laboratory research to commercial manufacturing. The company will now establish its first demonstration line in Stockholm to support customer programs and further optimise production efficiency, as well as put partnerships together to ensure early market delivery. The teams are focused on maintaining both quality and performance as they scale up production to meet initial anticipated demands.
