At Cellfion, our core technologies—PFAS-free, cellulose-based membranes—are developed for use in hydrogen applications, redox flow batteries, humidification systems and ion separation. These areas are directly affected by regulatory developments in the EU, including the proposed PFAS restrictions, updates under REACH, and broader chemical safety and material traceability frameworks.
We don’t treat regulation as a downstream issue. From early-stage material selection to production methods, we assess how policy and regulatory trends will affect both us and our customers. This includes:
- PFAS Restrictions: By developing a membrane solution free from PFAS, Cellfion addresses one of the most urgent chemical concerns in the EU today, ahead of enforcement timelines.
- REACH and Material Safety: We follow guidance under REACH and similar frameworks to ensure that key components can support future certification and responsible handling.
- Traceability and Reporting: As expectations around supply chain transparency grow, we are exploring how to strengthen our internal systems to support our partners and customers in meeting those demands.
Electrochemical technologies are increasingly central to industrial decarbonization strategies. But for them to scale, they must meet not just performance standards—but also regulatory thresholds. Our role is to deliver materiuals that help our customers stay ahead of compliance risks, enabling smoother market entry and future-proof system design.
As policymakers tighten requirements across energy storage, hydrogen, and chemical processing industries, we believe that a strong regulatory strategy is as essential as a strong R&D pipeline. Cellfion is committed to actively following regulatory developments, maintaining close contact with industry stakeholders, and contributing where we can to shared guidance.
In a complex and evolving policy environment, building a viable deep-tech company means more than scaling a lab result. At Cellfion, we view regulation as a necessary design input—not an afterthought—and we are building accordingly.
