New project announcment - Functionalized nanocellulose in batteryseparator coatings for next-generation sodium-ion batteries
Cellfion has received SEK 500,000 in funding from the SwedishEnergy Agency for the project “Functionalized nanocellulose in batteryseparator coatings for next-generation sodium-ion batteries.”

The projectwill assess the ability of functionalized nanocellulose to enhance conventionalseparator coatings for sodium-ion batteries. The project aims to validate keyproperties, including electrolyte wettability, ionic conductivity and mechanicalintegrity, and to evaluate performance through battery cell testing.
Sodium-ionbatteries are attracting growing interest as the battery industry looks forsafer and more high-performing material solutions. Cellfion will conduct theproject in partnership with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, combining Cellfion’s expertise inproducing functionalized nanocellulose with RISE’s battery testing capabilities.
